Sarah Palin’s VP Debate Suit Designer?
It’s a question being posed at Cathy Horyn’s (the New York Times esteemed fashion critic’s) blog, On the Runway: What designer did Sarah Palin’s dress for the debate or who is her designer.
Sources tell me the suit she wore for the Vice Presidential Debates broadcast from Washington University’s campus in St. Louis, MO on Thursday night, October 2nd, was Armani.
Ms. Palin stopped off at Neiman Marcus, Plaza Frontenac, St. Louis, MO the night before the debates and purchased the outfit.

The suit is the Tahari Skirtsuit, which can be found at Neiman Marcus.

Thanks Dawn. I’ll post the correction….
Looks very different though from the catalog. Nieman’s has certainly been getting a lot of publicity lately haven’t they?
[…] my apologies, to Tahari, my readers, and Ms. Palin. You can view my original post here, and Tahari’s suit in Neiman’s catalog here. I looked closely and it looks very […]
On behalf of my company…Tahari Arthur S. Levine (a division of Elie Tahari)… Dawn is CORRECT… the black skirt suit that Sarah Palin was wearing at the RNC VP Debate was in fact a Tahari Suit. In addition, she has also been seen wearing the same suit (which was made for Neiman Marcus as a special cut in blue) where she wore the blue jacket over the black skirt, getting more mileage for her money. Lastly, she has also worn numerous suits from our many divisions: Tahari Arthur S. Levine suits which are priced on average at 179.99 - 199.99 and which have been bought at either Macys, Lord and Taylor department stores; Antonio Melani and Alex Marie exclusively at Dillards. For further information we can be contacted at 212-763-2800 or at email above.
Thank You!
Thanks so much for the information about the suits, Marie. As you know we’ve all been discussing Ms. Palin’s wardrobe endlessly. It needs to be noted how affordable your suits are for their quality, and to myself and several other professional women, we think a very wise choice for Ms. Palin. Especially for the VP Debate!

Hi,
I was wondering if you might know what designer Sarah Palin wore at the Republican Convention? I liked the shell worn underneath the suit. It was black with a cream colored band at the top.
Thanks,
Judy
Hi Judy,
Thanks for your comment. The New York Times fashion reporter, Eric Wilson, wrote that Ms. Palin’s jacket the night she gave her speech at the Republican Convention was a Valentino.
You can read about it at http://www.nytimes.com/2008/10/23/us/politics/23style.html?_r=1&oref=slogin . That’s his article.
And there is an image of the Valentino jacket as there are other slides of other outfits she wore during the campaign with all designers named. It’s worth the visit if you’d like to know all the brands she wore for the different venues.
Best,
Kim
Hi Kim,
Thanks so much for the info, I’ll check it out.
Regards,
Judy
There are critics of Sarah Palin but in my opinion she is also a very good politician and she also did some good projects in Alaska.
`
Thanks for stopping by, Caramoan. Ms. Palin is a very resilient individual. Most would have caved by now due to the pressure put on her. It will be interesting to watch her process.
I idolize Sarah Palin because she is a woman with very strong character. She has also lots of accomplishments in the area of public service.`
Sarah Palin is a very vocal person and most of the time she speaks what she thinks and how she feels. ”
Thank you Lily and Ellis for stopping by and commenting. I continue to be impressed by Ms. Palin’s resolve and her determination in spite of her critics. She has many haters perhaps out of fear of her because of that strength but she has lots to learn too. IMO. Then again, Hillary inspite of lots of supporters had lots of haters too.
In hindsight Palin was an excellent partner(if not a little wet behind the ears, though so was Barack Obama) for John McCain because she is as much if not more of a maverick than he is/was. I appreciate her at least for keeping the dialogue going.
You are right, Lily, she has a very strong character and Ellis you are right, she speaks her mind.
With six kids and a grandchild to boot. You have to have a supportive husband, family and friends to manaage all of that…and that’s a strictly unbiased observation coming from me, a professional single parent with one child (now grown).
