Cool and Comfortable, a Chair Made from Trash.
The a la lata chair by Carlos Montana is made from 1,739 aluminium can tabs. (taken from Cool Green Stuff.)
The name, A LA LATA, means “to the can” in Spanish and comes from a phrase that refers to doing things spontaneously. If you click on the above link, you’ll be able to see other chairs made from trash and a close-up of this one…and how the pop tops were put together.
This goes into my permanent archive of favorite things, so clever, so simple, so recycled, so useable. Remember the clutch I purchased for my daughter when I did My Green Post on Green Post Day? It’s called the Escama Handbag and is done the same way by the same Brazilian collective…..
So, not only do I think these handbags will be revered by the college crowd…this chair will work perfectly in a dorm setting or rec room. It looks like it can take a fair amount of abuse or at least liquid spilled on it without much fuss.
